Curriculum Intent
At Stillness, our curriculum is a vibrant, inclusive foundation where happiness fuels achievement. We believe that every child is unique and has the right to be supported, challenged, and celebrated. Our intent is to move beyond a list of subjects to create a journey that is:
- Ambitious (“Our Best at All Times”): We hold high expectations for every child, providing the “cultural capital” and deep knowledge they need to reach their full potential.
- Broad (Curiosity Drives Discovery): We give equal weight to the arts, humanities, sport, and sciences, ensuring children explore a wide range of disciplines to find where their passions lie.
- Balanced (Nurtured to Lead): We balance academic success with a focus on personal development, building “thinkers, creators, and kind-hearted leaders” who are prepared to contribute positively to the world.
Curriculum Implementation
We bring our ethos to life through meaningful and enjoyable learning and a community-wide commitment to our three shared pledges:
- Kindness: A Pledge to Each Other
We implement a culture of empathy. Through our social and emotional curriculum, we ensure pupils “use their words to build others up” and create a safe environment where everyone feels valued and included. - Curiosity: A Pledge to Our Learning
We ignite discovery by encouraging children to “keep an open mind” and “ask questions.” Our teaching is designed to be engaging, giving pupils the tools—from paintbrushes to science experiments—to explore a world of possibilities. - Resilience: A Pledge to Ourselves
We explicitly teach children how to “embrace challenge and learn from mistakes.” By finding the “courage to try again,” our pupils develop the mental strength to navigate a changing world. - Community Partnership: We work together—staff, families, and the wider community—to build strong foundations for lifelong learning, ensuring every child is supported to give their best effort in everything they do.
